Our visit from Dame Jacqueline Wilson was such an inspirational experience for everyone lucky enough to be in the school assembly. Jacqueline kindly agreed to let us film an interview between herself and three of our inspired students. As a Country, our language is possibly our greatest asset, and having writers of Jacqueline's quality promoting the effective use and enjoyment of our words can only be a good thing.
Thank you to everyone involved in organising this inspirational event: Mr Hyde for agreeing and organising the event on behalf of the school and for the film above; Mrs Rowland for 'setting' the stage; Mrs Giles-Thomson for organising the book delivery; Mrs Furr for welcoming all the guests; Mrs Lloyd (Librarian) for sharing the school's passion for reading; Chorleywood Bookshop and associates for recommending Little Green as a school to visit; obviously, Dame Jacqueline Wilson for her warm and engaging discussion and, just as important, the children for their immaculate behaviour throughout the hour long assembly and their knowledgeable questions. Thank you everyone for making a difference at Little Green. We all look forward to the next visit!
We celebrated our successes in Assembly on Monday - see the poll above.
Well done to 5R Mrs MacKintosh's class for the highest daily percentage for walking/riding/scooting/parking & driving to school.
Well done to 3H Miss Tuthill's class for the best improvement.
Well done to 4H Mrs Crawford and Mr Flint, for the highest overall score.
We made a small impact but we know there is a lot more work to do to make a lasting change to the safety in our area. At our meeting on Tuesday we agreed the following:
To poll the parents to see which of our ideas they like the best: Here it is: https://forms.gle/G5FZGQhEEkcUNZ81A (Thank you to those who have responded already - we will share the themes next week.)
To develop a ticket/poster design ready for launch asap. - Drafts being created for next week's meeting.
We meet next week to share your views, finalise our posters and agree our next steps...
"Reading and writing cannot be separated. reading is breathing in and writing is breathing out."
In our perpetual promotion of reading, writing and an appreciation of our wonderful language, we have been holding our annual Reading badge Award competition 2021-2022. The competition has been of a very high quality and I commend every competitor for trying their best. Notwithstanding, there can be only one winner - to be decided by the children in the coming days. We should have a result for you next week!
Following our Whole School Jaqueline Wilson assembly, we paused any more group assemblies to see if the assembly caused any Covid infection. As of Tuesday, we have not seen any more cases of Covid so we are gradually bringing back some Year Group Assemblies. We began with Year 6 being invited by Miss Gay to sing together in the hall during the Signing Assembly on Tuesday. Oh my goodness, how we have missed this uplifting experience! It was such a pleasure to hear the children's passionate voices. As one child walked past my office I heard him say, 'I feel electric after that!' Enjoy the singing, courtesy of Miss Gay and the Year 6 children. :-)
Student Parliament Cabinet Elections
It has been a pleasure and a real sense of pride for all of the school to watch the brave Year 6 children take on the opportunity and challenge of standing for the school cabinet. Some very passionate and well thought out election campaigns and speeches have been shared with all of us and, today, we began voting day. A huge congratulations to everyone involved and we look forward to working with those lucky enough to be given the rights and the responsibilities of leading the school parliament.
