Summer really does feel upon us with the warm weather and summer events coming thick and fast: Year 3 have been practising with their FOLG funded Push Ball in the hope of retaining the cup at Croxley Revels - we are the reigning champions! Thank you to our Parent Parking Advisors for supporting our Road Safety - Here's Chet on patrol! We have had an amazing week of Sports Successes and adventures with the Girl's Football Premier Final at Vicarage Road; The Year 6 Cricket Competition and a Year 6 trip to Thorpe Park. Year 4 will soon be sailing at the Aquadrome and next week will be a celebration of Bees and the Queen. We then have the Summer Fair and Leavers Production and Sports Day and so much to look forward to!
We were very sad to celebrate Mrs. Madden's retirement in a special assembly today. Mrs. Madden has been supporting lunchtimes for many years at Little Green and is also famous for her haberdashery skill supporting blankets for Africa. We thank her for her service and wish her the very best in retirement - please do keep knitting and crocheting Val!
The Little Green Girls Football team competed in the Premier League Primary Stars National Final on Tuesday 17th May at Vicarage Road Stadium, the home of Watford FC. The 20 Premier League clubs from across the country were represented by schools that were the winners of their Regional Finals, the competition that Little Green won in March.
The girls were in a group with Aston Villa, Leicester City, West Ham United & Crystal Palace and had to place 1st to go through to the semi-finals.
Some brilliant performances from the girls achieved 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss from our 4 games; Olivia also being top scorer in the group with 6 goals. The 7 points they gained were just not enough to go through, with the girls finishing runners up in the group stage.
It was absolutely brilliant seeing the support in the crowd cheering the girls on, with over 170 supporters from the Little Green community attending the event.
As a school, we are all so proud of the way the girls represented both Little Green and Watford FC. Being a group runner-up left us finishing joint 5th overall in the competition and therefore as 5th best girls football team in the country out of 763 entries. The girls were an absolute credit to themselves and thoroughly enjoyed their wonderful once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Our Bee Brigade (Name to be confirmed) will be sharing an assembly next Wednesday as part of their Black and Yellow Day. These boys came up with this idea themselves and went out on Thursday to create habitats for local bees. Outstanding! Thank you to the Croxley Rangers for inviting us to the planting.
We continued our theme in assembly of 'Research' asking how research is very similar to learning. We asked the children how honesty and reason were important parts of Researching and Learning and this is what we came up with:
Honesty: "You have to be honest if you want to learn - you can't just lie about being able to do something because then you won't learn it."
Reason: " If you make mistakes, you need to work out why you made a mistake and change how you are doing it. If you just do the same, you won't get any better."
We continue to consider the idea of research - of working together to find the best ways of doing something - throughout this term's assemblies. As a researching school, we are always keen to reflect on how we do things and how we can make them better. We all want the best for the children in our community. With that in mind, our Parent Survey will be coming soon and we are very keen to hear your honest and reasoned thoughts on how we could do things even better.
