354 people responded to our ethos survey. Mostly, the survey was completed by children. 44 parents, 31 school staff and 8 Governors also responded. The results were pleasing, with kind and safe being the most popular words. These words are already part of the language we use around school. Therefore, we have decided that we will adopt 'kind', 'safe', 'positive' and 'learning' as our new school culture words. We are looking forward to embedding these words in the new academic year and working with the children to understand what these words mean in school life. Thank you to everyone who took part to share their thoughts.
THANK YOU to everyone who supported all of our competition leaders. There have been a fantastic number of entries, of a very impressive quality. The children have been judging their competitions all week and they look forward to announcing the winners on Monday!

The whole school had an exciting day on Thursday as children spent the day with their new teachers in their new classes. We also welcomed our new Year 3 children and families to the school to experience a full day of Little Green. Thank you to all of the staff from Little Green and Malvern Way for supporting the children to have a positive first experience of their new year. Thank you also to all the children and families who were able to attend the New to Year 3 workshop.
On Monday, Aarisha, Anjali and Emma shared their brilliant idea about a Book Swap. This Friday, children brought two books in they were happy to swap and also raised some money. This money will be jointly shared between the RSPCA and, hopefully, funding a permanent book swap case on the lower playground.
The children have not only had a brilliant idea but have also followed through in driving this idea. As if that wasn't enough, their idea could create a permanent positive improvement for the whole community. An amazing - thank you from all of us!
On Monday, the student cabinet shared the results of their created and shared leavers survey. The feedback was generally very positive with a few suggestions for how things could be even better. We will share this with the newly elected cabinet in the Autumn term to help them decide on how to make things even better for the school community. Special thanks to Sam Newman, governor, for her support and expertise in data collection and analysis! Here are the slides created by the children and shared with the whole school on Monday. I copy in two positive slides below.

I understand where I am on my educational journey and what I'm yet to do:
Overall, I have enjoyed my time at Little Green:
Helena took part in a gymnastics competition last weekend and, after a lot of focus and effort, achieved a bronze medal! An amazing job Helena!
Hugo developing great habits at his first Open Water Swimming event!
Hugo took part in his first open water race at the Swim England East Region, regional Champs in Norwich. (Herts falls into this region). He raced a 1km in the 11-12 category and came 7th overall in the Region and Gold in Herts! He also won the Junior and Open category for Herts in 1km. He’s chuffed as it was a very different experience to the pool!

Stationery sets
Save yourself the summer stationery shopping stress and buy now! Sourced by Mr Flint so all of the equipment in the packs is school approved!
The flash sale price has unfortunately finished so packs will now be priced at a very competitive £10 (still far cheaper than you can source on the high street!) and can be ordered via: www.pta-events.co.uk/folg. The pack contains 2 writing pens, a green pen, 2 HB pencils, a pair of scissors (you can specify right or left handed), Pritt Stick, eraser, Boogie sharpener, 30 cm ruler, whiteboard pen, highlighter all contained in a clear pencil case. These can then be sent straight to your child's classroom or be held at the school office for you to pick up.
Second hand uniform
Good quality second hand uniform can be ordered from Faye via folg-uniform@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk - most items are just 50p. Send an email outlining the items you wish to order - remember to include sizes and your child's class - you will then receive an email to let you know when your items are ready to collect from the school office.

Notes:
Dear Parents and Carers,
Please can we ask that all children return their School Library, classroom and Year Group Reading Spine books back to school by Monday 17th July. Unfortunately, at the end of every school year we do lose some of our book stocks as they are not returned and are lost during the holidays. Ultimately this costs the school large amounts of money to replace them each year so that the next cohorts still have plenty of high quality books to enjoy reading. Please encourage your children to have a good look at home for any school books so that they can be put safely back on the shelves for future children.
Please can we draw your attention to the following:
The Tesco Community Grant Scheme - In-store Vote
We are in the customer vote for a Tesco Community Grant. It’s a scheme which gives community projects like us grants of up to £1,500. Tesco customers will vote in the Rickmansworth store from now until the end of September to decide how much funding we get, so please support us next time you shop at Tesco and place your token in the Little Green Garden to Plate project box. We are hoping to use the funds to purchase a poly tunnel for gardening projects.
Many thanks for your support,
The Little Green Team
NOTES:
Please do show kindness to everyone when using all of the paths to and from school. The end of the day is always a busy time and, as requested by parents, we do have a 2-way system.
Many thanks for supporting the community.
CAR PARK REMINDER
Just a polite reminder that parents should not be driving into the car park for any reason.
Only Blue Badge holders should be accessing the car park. Thank you.
