Ms Marriot is currently reviewing the ethos words and consulting with all our community about what values and ethos statements are important. Following surveys with parents, children and staff, we have reduced the options to eleven and we are asking you to pick what you believe are the most important THREE. Please spend, literally, one minute to complete this survey!
Thank you as always for your support!
The competition enthusiasm promoting creative thinking, collaboration and public speaking (oracy) - continues in abundance! We have had so many competition requests that we have created a new approach to competitions this term: rather then individual launches, it is a pleasure to introduce our Competition Website. This has allowed us to launch a large number of competitions at the same time and to have the same closing date. There are so many interesting and exciting competitions to enter and we do want all the competitions to be successful and have a good number of entries. With this in mind, we have challenged the children with the following - They...
MUST - enter one competition
SHOULD - enter two competitions
COULD - enter as many as they like!
We will turn the ethos lounge into a competition entry gallery and so help to publicise and promote all of the competitions that are live. PLEASE do support the children taking a risk in devising and launching competitions to support the school and wider community. Thank you in advance for your support!
Closing date Monday 7th July!
Some of the competition ideas and their presenters in assembly!
Launching: A competition called ‘I LOVE’ where you draw AND write about one or something you love
Megan, Eesha, Ellie, Amira and Sophia
Launching a Lego Competition - we want them to build their House Animal out of Lego to be displayed in fish tank!
Elliot, Max and Bobby
A Sports Trophy Competition where you design and make a sports trophy. One for each year - so the school can use them in competitions!
Sam Newman, Governor and professional data analyst, came to school on Tuesday to support the Year 6 cabinet to develop a Leavers Survey for Year 6. The children considered open and closed questions and the importance of different topics. The next steps are to come up with some options for some of the open questions; to carry out the survey; and finally, to present the findings to the school in a Student Cabinet Assembly. We also look forward to taking some of the cabinet to the Student Council Forum at Watersmeet - a gathering of around 20 local schools sharing their ideas and working to make a difference in their community.
Year 3 Parent Workshop
A big thank you to Ms Marriott who had the pleasure of working with Year 3 families to share our new approach to teaching spellings in Year 3 and to discuss our therapeutic approach to behaviour. If you were unable to attend, please see the slides embedded in today's Newsweb.
The workshop introduced the Year 3 Team's approach to spellings and also shared the school's approach to supporting behaviour. We were delighted to welcome over 50 parents representing 65% of the children.
Thank you as always for your support. We look forward to future Parent Workshops coming in the near future.
Ms Marriot sharing the Year 3 spelling approach.
Ms Turner and Ms Borlase sharing the Ready to Learn room ethos.
Ms Muckell sharing the Zones of Regulation and our approach to supporting behaviour with emotional literacy.
Talking Learning Behaviours
Ms Marriot, Ms Rowland and Ms Sedgwick recently attended Hertfordshire County Council's Therapeutic Thinking three day Training - the Hertfordshire County Council's approach to supporting and managing behaviour in a school. Ms Marriot lead the Support Staff CPD supporting Teaching Assistants, Breakfast and After School Club and Lunchtime staff to further understand the research and the school's approach to supporting behaviour across the school allowing staff to deepen their understanding and further develop their practice. All very supportive!
We are very excited to announce the circus is coming to Little Green School for two days, 9th and 10th June 2023. The main show is on the 10th June 2023. There are three shows. Please see poster attached.
Please book tickets now for the 10th June 2023 to avoid disappointment as limited space.
Each individual needs a ticket. Under 2's are free.
Reminder: year 6 children who are going to Rickmansworth school have CAT test that day so later show might be best.
We will need some volunteers to help with some stalls so if you are able to help please let us know by emailing folg@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk.

To support the day we have Crazy Hair Day in a couple of weeks - Look to Mr. Roberts for inspiration!
FOLG second-hand sports kit marketplace
We are really excited to announce that FOLG is setting up it’s own online marketplace for parents to donate and buy second-hand sportswear and equipment on a new community based app called "Grassboots". With most donations priced between £1.00 to £5.00 it provides a fantastic opportunity to buy preloved kit for amazing value, especially during these difficult times. So, to join up, please go to your App store and download the “Grassboots.Club" app. When registering, link to Little Green School (FOLG) and you’re then good to go. Once an item is bought, contact the donater via the in-app messenger to arrange a collection time at the school gates...easy! This community focussed initiative gives the school and parents a great opportunity to recycle more, reduce waste and the majority of every sale goes towards fundraising targets for FOLG... so please join up and start donating and buying!
For more information please go to: www.grassboots.club or Facebook / Instagram @grassboots.club
Stationery sets
If you missed out on ordering stationery sets we have received new stock and will be opening the opportunity to order on PTA events again - the introductory price has unfortunately finished so packs will now be priced at a very competitive £8 (still far cheaper than you can source on the high street!) and can be ordered via: www.pta-events.co.uk/folg. Information of what is contained in the packs can be found at this link.
Second hand uniform
Good quality second hand uniform can be ordered from Faye via folg-uniform@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk - most items are just 50p. Send an email outlining the items you wish to order - remember to include sizes and your child's class - you will then receive an email to let you know when your items are ready to collect from the school office.
