The science of flight
On Monday and Tuesday, it was a pleasure to welcome Ofsted H.M.I. Inspector Ms. Bear and share our school with her. A finalised report will be published within 30 days at which point we will be able to share more details and the overall outcome with you. What I can say, is that the Little Green community came out in force to celebrate the school and support the process. A huge personal thank you to the staff, children, governors and parents for your positive contributions throughout the two days - and as always, special thanks to a few special community members who came in and supported the school with a quick tidy over the weekend. (You know who you are!) Also, a huge thank you to Mr. Chris Lloyd, Chair of Governors, and Yvonne Lloyd, Librarian, who both returned from Australia on Sunday and then came to school on Monday and Tuesday to support the process. #commitment! We are a fantastic team of committed individuals working to make a difference for our whole community. Thank you.
We are delighted to be holding our Fun Run on the last day of the Spring term. Thank you so much to all of the community for your generosity in supporting FOLG and the school to further develop our facilities for the children and community of Little Green. In the spirit of friendly competition, we thought we would share the donations leader board - well done Elephants so far! See the poster below for more Fun Run information.
Little Green have managed to win both the Girls Team and Boys Team medals in the York House Cross Country event, along with some individual podium medallists. The teams of 10 in each event ran the course of nearly 2km with multiple hills and rough terrain, but they managed to push through and get some fantastic finishing positions.
The Girls team had all team members finish in the top 25 places out of over 50 runners, with Lily S finishing a fantastic 2nd place with a time of 8:47mins and Evie H just behind her in 3rd with a brilliant 8:58mins time. Two other girls managed to place in the top 10, Autumn H in 6th (9:24mins) and Erin H in 9th (9:37mins). With the best team score by a large margin, they managed to grab the team gold as well.
The Boys team had a big challenge in a race with 70 runners, but all managed to finish in the top 40 places and once again got the best team score to secure the team gold medals. Three boys finished in the top 10 with Hugo H in 4th after a time of 8:00mins, Louis B in 5th (8:05mins) and Jamie B in 7th (8:12mins).
The Girl's football team and Mr Rivers have been making headlines again...
FOLG FUN RUN
With three weeks to the end of term, FOLG are very excited to share our Fun Run information with you and hope you will be able to support the process in some way. The planned route is 1.7miles around our lovely streets and countryside. More information will be coming closer to the date.
To support with stationery requirements, there will be a stationery sale 24th March 2023 in the lower playground gazebo: Price list:
FOLG second-hand sports kit marketplace
We are really excited to announce that FOLG is setting up it’s own online marketplace for parents to donate and buy second-hand sportswear and equipment on a new community based app called "Grassboots". With most donations priced between £1.00 to £5.00 it provides a fantastic opportunity to buy preloved kit for amazing value, especially during these difficult times. So, to join up, please go to your App store and download the “Grassboots.Club" app. When registering, link to Little Green School (FOLG) and you’re then good to go. Once an item is bought, contact the donater via the in-app messenger to arrange a collection time at the school gates...easy! This community focussed initiative gives the school and parents a great opportunity to recycle more, reduce waste and the majority of every sale goes towards fundraising targets for FOLG... so please join up and start donating and buying!
For more information please go to: www.grassboots.club or Facebook / Instagram @grassboots.club
Stationery sets
If you missed out on ordering stationery sets we have received new stock and will be opening the opportunity to order on PTA events again - the introductory price has unfortunately finished so packs will now be priced at a very competitive £8 (still far cheaper than you can source on the high street!) and can be ordered via: www.pta-events.co.uk/folg. Information of what is contained in the packs can be found at this link.
Second hand uniform
Good quality second hand uniform can be ordered from Faye via folg-uniform@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk - most items are just 50p. Send an email outlining the items you wish to order - remember to include sizes and your child's class - you will then receive an email to let you know when your items are ready to collect from the school office.
