Sports Day
Thank you to everyone for creating such a warm, kind and supportive atmosphere at Sports Day today. It was lovely to be part of such positive Community Wellbeing. Celebration. Congratulations to all of the competitors - Win or Lose - Losing is Learning!
After Year 6's adventurous PGL last week, Year 4 have taken to the water this week to learn how to sail. It looks and sounds like a wonderful learning experience and we look forward to sending the second team of intrepid sailors next week. Thank you to the Year 4 Teachers and the BLYM Team for making this happen!
Little Green Cartoon Strip
Our first (hopefully of many) Little Green Cartoon Strip. This one brought to you by the incredible imagination and humor of Leo!
As part of Sports Week, 5H and 3H took part in a scavenger hunt during their buddy assembly. The task was to collect something beginning with every letter of the alphabet but the items had to fit in the palms on the pairs hands! As always, we love spending time with our buddy class and have built some very strong and lasting relationships.
Year 5 had a visit from the charity Mind. They ran a wonderful workshop that helped us to understand our feelings and discover ways to help support us when we are feeling different emotions.
(...out of biscuits and chocolates - just like the Romans - well, sort of!)
Throughout the week, Year 3 have been learning about how the Romans built roads. They learnt about the different layers of a road and what materials would have been used to make them. The children's task was to create a Roman road using biscuits and chocolate. Digestives represented the large, round stones for the first layer. Then, using a crumpled up Maryland cookie and melted chocolate the children stuck the biscuits together. Finally, they used Custard Creams to represent tiles as the top layer of the road.
Library Summer Reading Challenge
The Summer Reading Challenge has now been promoted to all the children in school through assemblies. We think it is a brilliant way for the children to engage with reading over the Summer Holidays and teachers will be keen to catch up with the children in their new class in September to find out if they have engaged with it. Please find the link below.
Why not visit Croxley Library over the Summer to see if you can find one of the recommended texts?
These events are happening throughout the Summer Holidays that families can access with their children. All events are free of charge and non-bookable.
