Key dates and messages
It has been a pleasure to welcome back the whole school community with a week of positive learning, smiles and fun. I look forward to seeing you all over the coming weeks and months as we work hard to be the best we can be.
This year, we will be thinking about how we form and maintain GOOD HABITS to help us all be the kind, safe, positive learning school we aspire to be. We have already asked the children what their good learning habits are and what habits they are trying to develop. This week everyone has shown some fantastic learning habits and we will work hard to further drive these behaviours to become habits in the future.
How about you? Have you managed to established good habits around reading, homework, attendance, device use? What is working? What is not? We will be working together to support the development of good habits in the coming weeks and months.
In this Newsweb we have some wise words from Mrs. Rowland, SENCo, on supporting your children to transition back to school life; a plea for you to give your opinion on the road closure consultation - no surprises, I will be sharing mine!; a reminder of the summer holiday Reading challenge - we'd love a few more entries!; and exciting author visit news! We also have a FOLG meeting welcome which everyone is invited to!
Here's to a brilliant year for Little Green Junior School, looking forward to a birthday celebration with Malvern Way in the Summer Term as both schools turn 75 years old. Thank you, as always, for your support and hard work in making Little Green the best we can be.
The wonderful weather has been more like the end of term in July! So many new beginnings bring a range of challenges to individual children. For example, excitement of reconnecting with friends, building new relationships with different adults, every day’s timetable different from the year before, the sounds and smells of being back in school, returning to after school clubs….I could go on!
Even children who seem to have buckets of physical energy, can become mentally overwhelmed and need some time to ‘switch-off’ and allow their minds to settle.
The attached ‘checklist’ by Jodie Smitten resonated with me. She has some sensible tips. So, with a gloriously hot weekend ahead of us, I thought it might be useful to share.
Kind regards, Mrs Rowland.
Dear all,
I think it is fair to say that the road traffic around Little Green Junior School is not a top ten feature of the school. If Little Green Lane (the small unpaved lane behind the school that leads to local countryside footpaths) was ever to become more open to mechanised transport, things would likely become much worse for the safety of the children and the local community. This consultation is an opportunity to limit this possibility. Please spend time considering your own views on the consultation and make yourself heard: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/littlegreenlane
Author Visit HANNAH GOLD!
On TUESDAY 26th SEPTEMBER, author HANNAH GOLD will be visiting the school to meet the children and sign some books. ‘The Last Bear’ is a popular book with the children (and adults!) in school and we jumped at the opportunity to bring Hannah in to talk about her experiences as a writer, and her new book - ‘Finding Bear’.
To pre-order copies of the books, ready to be signed and dedicated at school on the day, please click the link below and place your order through Chiltern Bookshops by 5pm, MONDAY 25th SEPTEMBER.
BUY THE BOOKS HERE: https://schools.chilternbookshops.co.uk/events/hannah-gold/
Please note that only books purchased through this link will be signed and dedicated on the day. Delivery to the school will be free. We will also be buying copies for the school library. Many thanks as always for your support,
Mr Hyde and Miss Marriot

Save yourself the summer stationery shopping stress and buy now! Sourced by Mr Flint so all of the equipment in the packs is school approved!
The flash sale price has unfortunately finished so packs will now be priced at a very competitive £10 (still far cheaper than you can source on the high street!) and can be ordered via: www.pta-events.co.uk/folg. The pack contains 2 writing pens, a green pen, 2 HB pencils, a pair of scissors (you can specify right or left handed), Pritt Stick, eraser, Boogie sharpener, 30 cm ruler, whiteboard pen, highlighter all contained in a clear pencil case. These can then be sent straight to your child's classroom or be held at the school office for you to pick up.
Second hand uniform
Good quality second hand uniform can be ordered from Faye via folg-uniform@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk - most items are just 50p. Send an email outlining the items you wish to order - remember to include sizes and your child's class - you will then receive an email to let you know when your items are ready to collect from the school office.

Many thanks for supporting the community.

Just a polite reminder that parents should not be driving into the car park for any reason.
Only Blue Badge holders should be accessing the car park. Thank you.
