An exciting part of school life continues to be the range of child-conceived, created and led competitions. Currently:
Poetry Competition - by Aarisha and Imogen: Graffiti work awaiting a dry day for completion!
Nature Competition Voting - by Sophie, Grace, Isley, Siyana: Prizes to be funded by FOLG! Revealed soon!
Flag Competition - Open - by Charlotte and Maisie: Prizes to be Funded by FOLG!
Reading Badge Competition - Opening today! - by Little Green: Badge Maker funded by FOLG! Details below!
As well as funding a new set of Chromebooks, we now have one per year - hooray - FOLG have also agreed to fund the fish tank, School Artwork, School Flag and are currently planning for a range of events including quizzes and, possibly a circus. In short, FOLG make a MASSIVE difference to the Little Green Community. The money raised allows us to do special extras - like the competitions above - to support the learning and wellbeing experiences of the whole school. Have a look at the incredible work done by a dedicated group of volunteers. Thank you to everyone who is able to lend a hand!
It was a pleasure to welcome back School Council representatives from across Three Rivers to the launch of this Years Student Council Forum Project. Little Green has the honor of taking a leading role in the Forum, working with local councilors and council officers to provide a forum where children can use their voice to make a difference. This year, it was a pleasure to see Mr Flint sharing his Stream conception - a Curriculum Copy of the local Sports Partnerships model - you will all be hearing about this in the coming months. See website links in main website for more information.
The children also had the chance to learn about democracy from some of our District and County Councillors - from the left:
Mr Phil Williams, District and County Councillor
Mr Chris Lloyd, District and County Councillor and Little Green Chair of Governors
Ms Debbie Morris: Chair of the Three Rivers District Council
Mr Jon Tankard, District Councillor
Mr Steven Cox, District Councillor
The inaugural Eco Council Forum launch, building out of the Student Council Forum's Environment focus of last year, took place on Thursday. York House were very gracious and charitable in hosting the event and provided a delicious sustainable lunch. The children were given three inspirational workshops: Food Waste by Kirsty and Charlotte from Herts Catering; Clothing Waste by Elen Roberts, Three Rivers Sustainability Officer; and animal conservation from Steve and Debbie of Cassiobury Farm. Special thanks to the organisers: Mr Jon Gray, Head at York House and Little Green Governor; Mike Gedye, Assistant Head at York House; Mrs Helen Cox, Assistant Head at Croxley Danes and Little Green Parent; and our very own Ms Sam Reile, Year 5 Lead, Eco Council Lead, Science Lead and Assistant Head at Little Green. We were all left feeling inspired and driven to make a united community change. The children will be sharing their experiences with the rest of the Year 5 Eco Council and then planning for action - watch this space! See website links in main website for more information.
Our Reading Badge Competition is in need of immediate launch as some children have already achieved their bronze badges - hooray for a love of reading!
Please click the letter for information and the template. Badge entries to be sent in by Monday 13th December!
Badges are a 59mm circle (allow 2mm for the edge!)

Elfridges
A HUGE Thank you to all the volunteers who helped wrapped gifts for Elfridges. It was so lovely to have so much help. No gifts can be bought on the day as all need to be pre-ordered.
Please contact us if you have any queries: folg@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk
Stationery sets
If you missed out on ordering stationery sets we have received new stock and will be opening the opportunity to order on PTA events again - the introductory price has unfortunately finished so packs will now be priced at a very competitive £8 (still far cheaper than you can source on the high street!) and can be ordered via: www.pta-events.co.uk/folg. Information of what is contained in the packs can be found at this link.
Second hand uniform
Good quality second hand uniform can be ordered from Faye via folg-uniform@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk - most items are just 50p. Send an email outlining the items you wish to order - remember to include sizes and your child's class - you will then receive an email to let you know when your items are ready to collect from the school office.
Wed 30/11: Year 6 Swimming
Thu 01/12: Elfridges open for collection of pre-ordered items
Fri 02/12: Elfridges open for collection of pre-ordered items
