Friends of Little Green would be hugely grateful if you could spend 5 minutes to connect your amazon account to amazon smile. There is no change to your amazon experience but you are able to select FOLG as a charity to support your children, school and community: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/charity?orig=%2F
It was a pleasure to see community literally coming together on Monday as our students conceived and managed a Nature Photo competition; with winners voted for by the student body. Prizes funded by parents through FOLG were presented to the winners by Chair of Governors Mr. Lloyd. (Thank you Mr Lloyd!)
Firstly, a huge well done and congratulations to the organisers, Sophie, Grace, Isley and Siyana for making this all possible. A massive thank you to all of the parent body who support FOLG and the active FOLG members who voted to support this competition and fund the canvasses.
Finally, a well done to Bobby, Elsie, Luke and Chloe. They will be writing a blurb about their picture before we display them around the school - all of this supporting children as learners and leaders and building an ongoing legacy for the school Community.
Fantastic Community Wellbeing and attitudes all around. The rest of the Newsweb shares a range of community celebrations and successes - Enjoy!
In our end of term assembly, we shared the Autumn Term House Point Winners. Congratulations to the Elephants who narrowly outperformed the Hippos and Rhinos. Children are awarded House Points in the form of raffle tickets. See the next item for the raffle ticket draw. The Elephants will be enjoying a House Golden Time reward. Congratulations!

It was a pleasure to support Dorothy and Jessica in organising and running the Christmas Musical Talent Show. They arranged for Ms MacKintosh, Ms Muckell and Ms Gay to judge the awards; Children auditioned with instruments or voices in class, and class winners entered the main event held on the last day of the Autumn Term. Everyone was very impressed with the range of inspirational musical talents and the courage on display to stand up and perform in front of the whole school. Well done to all who took a risk, had a go, and shared their talent! Finally, congratulations to all of those that took part and a huge congratulations to Arianna who the judges selected as a well-deserved winner.

Behaviour and Culture Review
Last chance to have a say on this - some interesting views already shared and we look forward to sharing the feedback...
As part of our review of behaviour, culture, and ethos lead by Ms Marriott, we have been asking a lot of questions and re-sharing some ideas around behaviour to help focus our consultation with everyone in the future. Thank you to everyone who has shared an opinion and had their voice heard so far. With this in mind, we would love to have your thoughts on the posters that greet visitors to our school. We would like your thoughts on the intent within the statements which, currently, shape some of our thinking in school:
What, if anything, do these sentences mean to you?
Do you understand them?
Do you agree with them?
Would you change or add anything?
Any other thoughts...
There is also the option to say you don't really have an opinion and this takes you straight to submit. We value all your opinions - including honest apathy!
Please do let us know using this google form.
Happy New Year!
FOLG met on Monday and minutes are available. A range of events are planned including a local fun-run, crazy hair day, break the rules day and, excitingly, a circus summer fair - watch this space!
Stationery sets
If you missed out on ordering stationery sets we have received new stock and will be opening the opportunity to order on PTA events again - the introductory price has unfortunately finished so packs will now be priced at a very competitive £8 (still far cheaper than you can source on the high street!) and can be ordered via: www.pta-events.co.uk/folg. Stay safe – the dangers of frozen waters
Dear Watch Member,
Over the last few days Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue have attended water and ice incidents where people have been at risk of falling through frozen lakes and rivers due to rescuing a pet or not seeing the dangers of such activities.
Children and pets are particularly at risk when tempted to play on the ice formed on open water, and adults can find themselves at risk in attempting to save them.
Taking a nice walk in cold weather with your family, friends or dogs in tow can be really refreshing, just make sure you know some simple tips on how to stay safe in winter.
Areas with frozen lakes, ponds, canals and reservoirs can be beautiful places to visit during the winter months but all too often many people risk their lives by venturing onto frozen water.
Here are some useful tips to help you know what to do in an emergency.
Teach children not to go on the ice
Teach children not to go onto the ice under any circumstances.
Don’t go on the ice to rescue a dog
Don’t go onto ice or into the water to rescue a dog, move to somewhere that the dog will be able to climb out and call them towards you.
Keep dogs on their leads
Keep dogs on their leads when near ice and don’t throw sticks or toys onto the ice.
Only use well-lit areas
Time your walks to make the most of the daylight; if you need to walk in the evening only use well-lit areas or take a route not alongside water.
Keep back from the edge
When walking alongside water keep back from the edge.
