Week 7 21.10.21
Reading Badge Winner 2021-2022 & Oktoberfest
Reading Badge Winner 2021-2022 & Oktoberfest
PLEASE REMEMBER: Friday is an Inset Day (closed to children) and we return after half-term on Monday 1st November.
It is a pleasure to congratulate Edie for her winning entry in this year's reading badge Competition. It was a close event but Edie's entry received 16.5 % of the vote to take the top spot!
In assembly on Monday we also thought about how 61 children will be feeling a little disappointed about the result. We then focused on how our response to failure/losing can define us as real winners. Please support all of your children with their attitude to learning and life. I do hope they all accept they can't always win but try even harder at every opportunity to be the best they can be. This half-term. why not try the 'Drawing a Legacy' Backdrop competition shared in the next segment.
As a school we cherish opportunities to promote reading and I look forward to seeing Edie's design being worn by all the children as they read through the year.
A final congratulations and thank you to Edie and also to all the children who took a risk to enter the competition this year. Remember:
Isabel, Louise, Jessica and Dorothy came to me in September with the idea of a drawing competition. I suggested it would be great to link this to legacy and we thought designing the back stage backdrop with a more permanent positive Little Green message might benefit the whole school and leave a positive legacy for others to reflect on and embrace. The girls shared their idea last week in assembly. Here's a quick reminder:
Rules:
Children have until the first Friday after half term to design a new back-drop to replace the 'School of Rock'.
The winning entry will be painted on to the back-drop and serve as a positive promotion of the school during assemblies and events etc.
We are looking for something linked to the school ethos that is inspirational and drives a positive school message.
Entries on an A4 piece of paper (name and class on back) to Mr Roberts or your class teacher.
No copied images from the internet - we want YOUR artwork and YOUR ideas for this one!
Take a risk!
Have a go!
Try your best!
You have to be in it to win it!
...Do have a look at the school website blog (click the pictures on home page) for some brilliant examples of positive attitudes to learning: Special mention for the Year 6 reading Blog - check it out!
FOLG organised a wonderful fun Oktoberfest evening last Friday and it was a real pleasure to see the community coming together, enjoying themselves and supporting the school. Special thanks to all of FOLG, Lou and Cat the co-chairs, all of the amazing volunteers and, especially, Tina for coordinating the whole event.
We are very lucky to have such a supportive community and we thank you all for this ongoing support. Danke Shoen!
We currently have one 'outbreak' with 5 related cases which we shared last week.
We also have 3 children who have tested positive following positive sibling cases. Two of these are siblings at other schools. One is linked to the above outbreak. We also have 1 child, asymptomatic, who was taking part in a national testing program.
Total currently isolating: 9 children.
Thank you for all your support on Friday at Oktoberfest.
