Mr Hyde arranged for our local MP Gagan Mohindra to visit the school and talk about his perspectives on democracy, leadership and government. The children were able to ask a range of questions and it was insightful and educational to learn about the democratic process. It was a pleasure and a real insight into the complexities and challenges of leadership.
We hope our own parliament is able to take on some very valuable lessons as they take the lead and represent the school student body this year.
Mr Roberts and Miss Sedgwick have shared the minutes from our first meeting, the Friday before half term, and we look forward to taking on many of their manifesto aspirations and turning them into something real. As Gagan Mohindra explained, having an intent is one thing, but reality demands we prioritise what is most important against our capacity to achieve this - some tough lessons for those that were hoping for a swimming pool. :-)

We all spent two minutes in silence on Thursday remembering and recognising our gratitude for the ultimate sacrifices many of our community have made, are making and will make to allow us to live as we do.
We were delighted to support our Year 6 Children in developing their Road Safety Skill last week. We had lovely feedback from the staff and students. Well done to everyone who took a risk and had a go. We do hope this will encourage you to use your bikes more often and know how to do so in a safe manner.
On Wednesday morning a child reported that they were almost knocked off their bike by a parent carrying out a rapid U-Turn. I have asked the child and parent to report this incident and the number plate to the authorities.
Conceding a goal could have meant that Little Green dropped their heads but it was quite the opposite, they were determined to score and make the game out of sight. Some brilliant work on the right side again meant Jack found himself in a shooting position, just in front of the half way line and a hard shot took a deflection off a defender and looped over the goalie, off the post into the top corner. What a goal! 4-1. See the website for the full report! www.littlegreen.herts.sch.uk
Last Thursday, all of Year 5 travelled to Rickmansworth School and competed in a family fun run event. The event started with the Boys Elite Race in which Little Green had a finisher in 3rd place, followed by the Girls Elite Race where Little Green finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 9th!
The Boys and Girls Fun Run races followed, giving the opportunity for the entire year group to take part and run with their friends.
Thank you to all of the parent helpers and staff that enabled this event to happen and congratulations to our 5 medal winners!
Some beautiful Rangoli patterns created by our Year 4 children. Do look at the website to keep abreast of the impressive learning the children are enjoying! www.littlegreen.herts.sch.uk
In next week's assembly we will be thinking about how talking can support us to be kind and safe and sharing some of the Hertfordshire 'Just Talk' campaign materials. There are a huge range of supportive links and ideas for a range of worries and concerns. Thinking of democracy, it was lovely to see Edie and friends making the first of the new 2021-2022 Reading badges - who will be awarded one first!
We also voted for our Backdrop Design winner - congratulations to Alex for his beautiful design democratically voted for by the children of Little Green! We are currently discussing the logistics of how we turn this wonderful artwork into our positive backdrop. Exciting!
We have three children isolating currently. We believe that for all three children, they interacted with a family member who tested positive during the half term.
We continue to follow all guidance and, currently, are pleased to see a declining number of positive cases to date.
DISCO Update
Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their views. As you will see from the results - a very mixed bag of views that would suggest a low turnout for the event: either children not coming because of Covid restrictions or children not coming because of a lack of Covid restrictions!
After some careful consideration and taking in to account the guidance from County regarding larger events, we have taken the difficult decision to delay our disco so that we can hold the event, in all it's glory, in the spring term, rather than running a limited event that is not as enjoyed by the children.
We share in your disappointment and thank you for considering the larger picture and continuing to support the school.
