With the end of the staggered start, the roads have been feeling busier than ever. With this in mind we have organised class elections for a Road Safety Council member. Mr Rivers (Sports Coach) Miss Shah (PSHE Lead) and Mr Roberts (Headteacher) will support the council to identify projects and lead actions to benefit recusing traffic; ensuring safer roads and improving everyone's health. Well done to EVERYONE who took the chance to have a go and the very best of luck to you all. (See main image of Millie sharing her speech!) One event we did agree on is the cycle to school week beginning the 27th September. Once elected, I am sure the council will share more information and projects so they can make a difference.
The national guidance continues to support a move to living with Covid. See DfE poster above for when students need to isolate. We follow the current guidance with four key foci:
The four key elements are:
Ensure good hygiene for everyone.
Maintain appropriate cleaning regimes.
Keep occupied spaces well ventilated.
Follow public health advice on testing, self-isolation and managing confirmed cases of Covid.
As a school, unless we have a cluster of five related cases, we will continue following this guidance and thank you for your support. We do appreciate being informed via the admin email - admin@littlegreen.herts.sch.uk - so that we are also able to identify when cases may be indirectly related.
It is a delight to share Leo's writing today. Thank you to Leo for also sharing how this learning links to the wider topic on Chocolate in Year 5 while also targeting the specific literacy skill of using fronted adverbials. I apologise for the poor sound quality - I am looking for a microphone that plugs into an Ipad if such a thing exists! (let me know!)
The raffle tickets are drawn with the winners, winning some amazon vouchers - a prize chosen by the students. good luck!
Edie and Ilis are completing a personal fundraising event this Saturday. They have planned a Triathlon ‘11’ challenge to raise funds for Alice’s Arc- a charity that supports rhabdomyosarcoma research, development and affected families. Their friend Jessica should have turned 11 last week, but passed away nearly 2 years ago.
The girls are cycling 11km, running 11 laps of a football pitch and swimming 11 lengths.

Headteacher note:
Dear Everyone, It has been a pleasure to welcome you all to back to school this term. I am regularly and thoughtfully asked 'how are you?' and I always respond in the same way: If your children are happy and learning and you are happy, then I am happy. We have so many exciting things to share with you over the next few weeks and months. I do hope this 'Newsweb' format works well for everyone - especially those who use their phone to access the weekly school news. Your feedback, as ever, is always appreciated. We will try to develop a similar format moving forward. This begins by always having a link or a list of key upcoming dates at the bottom of the page. We'll also try and have a links page to most of the other documentation coming out so you have it all in a one stop shop - this is developing! Yours sincerely, Mr Roberts
The Little Green Team Uniform
At Little Green we regularly stress that we are a team and sharing a uniform is a huge part of feeling like a team member. The staff have, today, received their own team kit of school fleeces - just in time for the colder months!
We LOVE reading at Little Green and we look forward to hearing all about your reading at home. To celebrate reading we run an annual Reading Badge Design Competition and, judging by the children's enthusiasm, we will need our 2021-22 badges ready soon! The badges need to have a Bronze, Silver and Gold version and must include the words: Little Green and the Year 2021-2022. The children will vote on the designs and then put them into production once the winner is chosen. More information and templates will be coming home next week. Start thinking!
Quick notes:
Any donations of older flat-screen TVs (50inch plus) would be greatly appreciated to add some dynamic displays to the school.
We are starting to develop a Little Green Museum Corridor. If you have any older pictures or artifacts -esp. of the 1949-1980 period, these would be greatly appreciated: Old phone/ typewriter/ games/ examples of learning (exercise books) etc.
Year 3 Meeting will be virtual as voted for by parents./ Link emailed out today. We will also share slides with FAQs after the meeting.
Please do continue to act responsibly on your way to and from school. Do challenge those who are finding this difficult. We are asked that you share all concerns with 101 and pictures of inappropriate parking can anonymously allow you to make a difference. The more photos the 101 team receive, the more likely they will support the community to keep the streets safe for our children.
