In class: in light of the shooting at UNC-Charlotte, we looked at past shootings to gain perspective and to talk about how knowing the history shapes perspective. We started with an editorial by a father (please read it, then on the back, summarize his argument and react), then watched part of the news report from the 1966 shooting at University of Texas (please write down teh 4-6 takeaways from that footage and make connections to today). Finally, we explored the lasting effects of these shootings by listening to the father who wrote the editorial in conversation with his son's killer and by reading and discussing a poem by Erika Meitner.
