Hopper art analysis

11/29: We looked together as a class at Room in Brooklyn (attached below). We wrote in the journals using the same instructions as below.

11/28: We are working with Edward Hopper's art as a way to practice writing analytical paragraphs. To start, choose an image from Automat, Couple, NY Movie Theater, Chop Suey attached below. In your journal write down the title of the painting and describe what you see. Describe "plot" (the story of the painting), character - who they are, what they are wearing, where they are and their position (body language, standing, sitting, etc), relationship, setting. Then, look at colors - bright? subdued? dark? Are there patterns of colors? Are there shapes? Where and why? Look at the title. What does it add to your understanding.
