9/5: This weekend, use our discussion from class – about “Adapa,” about the definitions of myth , etc. – to continue to think about man’s relationship to his world and the relationship between man and the world of the divine. Work with the Enheduanna poem you were assigned in class. Repeat the process with this poem – mark it up (look up words and references you don’t know – on Google). Pay close attention to the imagery and word choice. On the back of the notecard, reflect on the world of the divine as expressed in these poems – how they are seen, interaction with man and what that tells us about the nature of the relationship between man and the divine. Fill the card and bring cards and poems to class on Monday.
9/4: Revisit Adapa. On the front of the notecard, reflect on the world of the divine through the lens of our discussion about the quotes today.
9/3: Mini-Assessment (counts once): Listen to the NPR story “A little Flute Music to Warm up the Cave.” As you listen, take notes (worth 20 points). Then, use the notes to make three strong, specific connections between the story and our discussions about the cave paintings (make these connections strong and clear – 20 points each). Finally, tell me why what you’ve written and discussed matters. HOW does this material help us to understand more about this course’s guiding question(s)? (20 DEEP THINKING points). If the link does not work, you will find the article below.
For Thursday (9/4): Read "Adapa" and answer the bulleted questions (attached below)
