4/24: Please see "UpFront feature article response" attached below (you will need to get a magazine from me in class to make this up).

4/12: CNN 10: Watch today's installment (April 12, 2017). Start at the beginning with the conflict in Syria. Watch until the 3:45 mark (right after Carl Azuz recaps the reasons why Syria is important to Russia). After you watch write down as many facts about the case as you can remember (strive for four). Then, fast forward to about the 5:30 mark (10 second trivia and the story about New York's tuition free program). the next section. After you watch, make a list of 4-6 ideas from this section that are interesting or important and write a few sentences about WHY they matter. Then we read for 20 minutes.

4/10: We read ALL period!

4/7: We spent some time writing and thinking about persuasive methods we use in our daily lives. We read for 30 minutes. We responded to some creative writing prompts.

4/5: I did three book talks, then we read for 30 minutes. Here's the Steph Curry carpool karaoke.

4/4: We finished the responses to Brooks' article, the read for 25 minutes.

4/3: Read “Choose to be Grateful, it will make you Happier” by Arthur C. Brooks. As you read, underline the ideas he presents that tell you why gratitude helps make us happier and put a box around the evidence that shows how to choose gratitude. When you are finished, write down two ideas that Brooks writes about gratitude that you have found to be true in your life (and give me examples), then, write down two ways he suggests to choose gratitude that you would like to put into practice and tell me how/when you will do that.
