Cont Final Project

Working on the final project (5/20): here's the work for those of you who are exempt. Here's the work for those who need to finish the projects for the final exam grade. Make sure that you read the grading criteria for the project and plan accordingly. In many cases, it might be a good idea to write a paragraph explaining the project to make sure that you meet all requirements.

Here are some online tools to help you get started on your project. If you are going to use PosterMyWall, you can access it here

You need to draft a proposal for Tuesday, 5/14 (no coupons, no exceptions) and bring the hard copy to class with you. Here is a sample student entry for an annotated bibliography with my comments. Here are my notes after reading the annotated bibligraphies handed in to me last Friday. Read both of these before you work on yours. Here's Mrs. Stern's handout about how to format in Google Docs so that the second line will indent.

Please read the handout for the final project assignment. Here are the next planning steps (May 1, 2019)

Everyone also needs to create and maintain an annotated bibliography (check this source for more information). The summary of the source must be your own (do not copy or paraphrase). Here are some tips for writing the annotated bibliography. Here is a draft sample of a second paragraph of an annotated bibliography entry (and some tips).

MLA help: Here's a screen shot of a website that shows you where/what to look for. Here are some explanations and formatting tips for the most common types of sources. Here are some pages from the new MLA book about in-text citation.

Alphabetizing help: Alphabetize by first letter of first word in the entry (ignore articles "A," "An" and "The"). If your entry starts with a number, alphabetize by the first letter of the number when written out (i.e. 81 would be "eighty-one" so alphabetize by "e"). If you have more than one entry starting with the same word, move to the first difference in letters between the entries and use that.

All research for the final projects must have some literary piece as part of the research (a novel, a film, a storytelling podcast, short stories, poetry, music, etc.). You also need to have questions you are hoping to answer or explore, one that your research should help you develop an answer that will serve as a thesis for your final (if applicable). Here are some resources based on your choices:
