Early Days

9/7: See Shakespeare Caesar speeches (attached below). Homework assignment is also part of that handout.

9/6: Processed subtext and stress. We looked at speeches from Romeo and Juliet and Titus Andronicus.

9/2: Work today on short scene from Romeo and Juliet - our goal here was to think about explicit and implicit stage directions. We also did work on stress and subtext.

9/1: Please read the excerpted chapter about "Alliteration" that I gave you today in class. You are reading this to gain a better understanding of alliteration as a literary technique AND to better understand how and why this is part of Shakespeare's repertoire and his legacy. Please mark up the reading needed and tomorrow I will ask you to identify three new ideas you have about Shakespeare and about the use of the device.

8/31: Your homework is to define the high-frequency words. Use the quote list to help you with context and the glossary to check.
