Frankenstein

4/18 (in class): we close read two sections of the novel today (they are attached below) in an effort to understand Shelley's view of knowledge and what triggers the creature's anger. Mark up each close read then in the blue book, react - write about what you found, look at Shelley's word choice, the sequence of events, imagery, etc. Strive for 3/4 page for each. I have also attached notes about a psychoanalytic read.

Blue book for the beginning of Frankenstein: Look for 3 ideas n the book review by Christopher Benfey ("Science and the Sublime") that you can apply to Walton's character, his upbringing, his worldview and his expedition. The goal here is to explore the ways that Walton is a man of his time (page and a half).
