Starting 5/21: We are working in the Acts - Revelations page now.

Here's the Daily Show episode with Reza Aslan.

starting April 27 - we are working in "New Testament." THE FINAL PORTFOLIO ASSIGNMENT IS ATTACHED BELOW. Samples of student work for the final portfolio can be found on the page "final portfolio samples."

starting March 9 - we are working in "Heroes and Kings"

starting January 30 - We're working on "Genesis" right now (see link below).

In case you are interested, here's the website with the cool videos that detail the reconstruction of Adam.

Please choose two of the art pieces attached below to look at and write about after you've finished the work with Genesis 2. In your blue book, (for each) copy down the title and artist, then describe what you see: write about "plot" first - what is happening in the piece, what people are there and what is their relationship to each other, to what is happening, etc. then move on to the tools of the trade - color, light. shading, shape, tone, etc. Finally, look at the title and THINK (that means write a paragraph or so) about how this piece supports, challenges, alters, reshapes your ideas about the biblical story, the character of God, Man's relationship to God, to the world around him, God's relationship to man, to the world, etc.

Here's the article I mentioned in class (the biblical reference in an article I read just yesterday). It's worth reading and thinking about in light of Grant's comment at the end of (A Block's) class today.

You'll find the class syllabus below. Please read it and make note of any questions you have. I'll ask for questions in class on Thursday.
