A la clase de español de la señora Saavedra
¡Esta es su casa!
This year in Spanish foreign language we will explore some of the Spanish speaking cultures. The main goal will be to help all students to learn to respond adequately in Spanish to written, cultural and spoken stimuli following the learning principles promoted by our district: Intellect, Integrity and Interconnectedness. I will support students in understanding and acquiring a varied vocabulary in Spanish supervising the development of good study skills.
Oral participation during class activities, completion of written assignments and, turning them on time, are crucial steps to understand the intricacies of this target language. It is very important that students in foreign language talk the new language during class and whenever possible outside of school. The more a learner practices what has been learned the more confidence it will be developed. It is also recommended to watch television in Spanish, although not everything will be understood, there will be words and phrases that when sounding familiar become an excellent booster on confidence. A quick 15 minutes everyday review, at home, helps greatly to re nforce new vocabulary and concepts. Please review Grade Breakdown to be knowledgeable of how the grade is composed. Also take a look at the reflexión and Reglas
Students who drop in at any given time after the Zoom meeting begins may miss important announcements, directions for opening activity, time to do the opening activity and, opportunities to score oral participation points. If you are experiencing connectivity issues please let me know. Being tardy or having late arrivals (excused by anyone) will impact your participation negatively. Another friendly reminder is that in case of unexcused absences although you may be responsible enough to make-up the test, the grade will not be applied until it stops showing up as a non-excused absence in the system.
I welcomed you aboard to share the wonderful experience of getting acquainted with another culture through their language. I hope we all have a great year.
