6th Period

- Today's class began with a discussion of how the country of France and England had a tumultuous relationship in the Middle Ages. This involved a discussion of William the Conqueror's invasion of England and the territory of Normandy. Ms. Pretet drew a map on the board to use as illustration of this invasion.

- Next, students took out their "Church and Crown" worksheet from last block day. We discussed who King Henry II of England was and his relationship with Thomas Beckett. Students then watched 3 scenes from the movie "Beckett" and answer the 4 discussion questions on the back of the "Church and Crown" worksheet. The class discussed how the battle between Thomas Beckett and King Henry II of England was part of the conflict between the Church and Kings over who has more control.

- Finally, the class discussed 9.1 using images from a PowerPoint.
