6th Period

Today in class, the teacher collected the "Greek Philosophies and Science" Guided Notes from ABC-Clio that were assigned for homework. Teacher graded them and handed them back in class. See attachment for "Greek Philosophies and Science" Guided Notes from ABC-Clio handout.

Next, students took out their Greece DBQ Packet and worksheet titled "DBQ - Packet Analysis - Greece." For homework last night, students were to complete steps 5 (read and annotate DBQ documents 8 and 9) and step 6 (thesis, evidence, and analysis).

Students were placed with a partner, and students swapped homework assignments and edited their partner's work, looking for ways to improve their partner's thesis, evidence, and analysis. Each partnership then discussed their ideas.

Then, the class completed step 7 (summarize documents 2, 7, and 13). In class yesterday, we read out loud documents 2 and 7). The teacher read document 13 to the class while students annotated the document. The class discussed the meaning behind the document, and students then wrote their own "summary" of document 13.

Finally, the class discussed the philosophers - Socrates and Plato. Students received a note handout to fill in while discussing ideas presented in the "Greek Philosophy" PowerPoint. See attachments for copy of the guided note handout and for the PowerPoint.

We ended class discussing Plato's Allegory of the Cave.
