The class began by reviewing the possible factors that would lead to the collapse of the US and HPHS. Students (with their partners) were then asked to identify trends between their two collapse lists. Were there any factors that were listed on both lists? What trends do you see? How might these trends related to the collapse of the Maya? These questions were discussed as a class.

With a partner and using their annotated article on the "Maya Collapse" - students were assigned the "Causes of the Maya Collapse" concept diagram. Students were to identify one political, one geographic, one social, and one additional factor that caused the collapse of the Maya. Students were to draw each factor of collapse; then, students were to choose one quote from their annotated Collapse Reading Packet to support each factor of collapse.

Students turned in "The Maya Collapse" worksheet that was due today. This worksheet corresponded with the "Maya Collapse" reading packet. If you were absent today, please be sure to turn in this assignment.

Homework:

1. Finish "Causes of the Maya Collapse concept diagram (some students finished and turned in during class)

2. Read Documents 3 & 4 from the DBQ packet and complete a Document Analysis Sheet for each

3. Work on study guide - due day of test

4. Test - moved from Monday to Wednesday of next week
