· Hypotheticals Worksheet - #1 and #2

· Read and annotate Reading #6 from Nationalization and Privatization Packet

· Homework:

o Finish hypotheticals and reading #6 if not finished in class

o 1. Handout – Hypotheticals Worksheet - #1 and #2

§ Based on their knowledge of information from the nationalization and privatization packet, students are to work with their assigned partner to discuss each hypothetical scenario. AFTER DISCUSSION OF THE FIRST SCENARIO, students should write up their answer to the hypothetical questions listed on the worksheet. Then, students should move to discuss the second hypothetical scenario. After discussing, students should write up their answer to the second hypothetical scenario.

· Please note – answers should be thoughtful and reflect knowledge and understanding of the pros/cons of nationalization and privatization. This assignment should take a minimum of 20 minutes when done properly.

§ To determine partners for the hypotheticals assignment - Students should take out their PARTNER CLOCKS

· Students will work on the “Hypotheticals #1 and #2” Worksheet with their 5 o’clock partner.

· If a student’s partner is not present, please have them see you. Assign the student to another pair of students (so they will be a group of 3).

§ Once a partnership is done with the “Hypotheticals #1 and #2 Worksheet, they can INDIVIDUALLY work on taking completing reading #6 from the Nationalization and Privatization worksheet.

· See below directions for details on Reading #6

o 2. Students are to read and annotate Reading #6 in the Nationalization & Privatization Packet. – INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT

§ This was provided to students over a week ago. Students have already read readings #1-5.

§ Students are to read and annotate Reading #6 – “From Water Wars to Water Scarcity: Bolivia’s Cautionary Tale”

· Students should annotate for:

o Pros/cons of nationalization & privatization

o Parts of the article that you agree or disagree with

o You reactions to different parts of the article

§ I have provided the substitute with extra copies of reading #6 in case a student has lost their Nationalization and Privatization Packet

o Homework:

§ Finish hypotheticals and reading #6 if not finished in class
