6th Period:

- We continued discussing Thesis statements (see attached PowerPoint on Thesis, Evidence, and Analysis + handout for taking notes).

- On the handout, students corrected the Thesis statement about Mars. Students then peer edited their new thesis statement.

7th Period:

- 5 students shared their examples of Thesis Statements about Mars. With their assigned partner, every student edited to the those 5 student's thesis statements better. See below for original and edited Thesis Statements on Mars.

1. 1. Humans should relocate to Mars because on Mars, it is not polluted, unlike Earth.

a. Humans should relocate to Mars because there is less pollution there/on Mars.

2. 2. Humans should relocate to Mars because it is more isolated.

a. Needs to be more specific

b. Humans should relocate to Mars because it is more isolated, meaning people can have more freedom to make their own decisions.

3. 3. Humans should relocate to Mars because people have been living on Earth for so long and Mars offers a new life on a different planet and more land to build off of.

a. Humans should relocate to Mars because there is more land available to people and offers new experiences

4. 4. Humans should not relocate to Mars because we are unsure of any dangers that lie on an unknown planet.

5. 5. People should relocate to Mars because it has more options for you.

a. Needs to be specific

b. People should relocate to Mars because there would be more opportunities for jobs, housing, and extracurricular activities.

9th Period:

- In class, students worked on individually writing a thesis statement about moving to Mars. Next, students peer edited thesis statements.

- 6 students shared their thesis statements with the class (these will be used next class period).

- NONE
