*** Substitute - Ms. Pretet is out!

· Period 2B and 2C: Economics – B206

o Take Attendance - Please mark anyone who is absent or tardy on the class roster sheets that are located on my desk in the social studies office; students have assigned seats (see seating chart)

o Please write the following agenda on the White Board at the front of the classroom

§ Pretet – Econ

· Collect “Making Connections” assignment

· Economic Systems Worksheet (#s 1-3, 508)

· Work on homework

· Homework:

o Ch. 2, Section 4 Notes - (“Modern Economies in a Global Age”) – due Friday

o 1. Collect the “Making Connections – Economic Systems” Worksheet that is due today. This was assigned on Monday and due today. Students know that this assignment is due at the beginning of the period.

o 2. Handout – “Economic Systems” Worksheet

§ Students are to use their notes from 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3 to complete the following:

· #1-3 in the chart (all parts of the chart for 1. Traditional, 2. Command, and 3. Market

· Short answer questions #5-8

· Students should note that they need a minimum of 3 advantages and 3 disadvantages for each economic system. They will need to actually THINK about the economic system to come up with 3 (not just from the book!)

· Please write these above directions on the front board

§ Students should take out their PARTNER CLOCKS

· Students will work on the “Economic Systems” Worksheet with their 3 o’clock partner

· If a student’s partner is not present, please have them see you. Assign the student to another pair of students (so they will be a group of 3).

§ Once a partnership is done with the “Economic Systems” Worksheet, they can INDIVIDUALLY work on taking notes on Ch. 2, section 4 from the textbook (“Modern Economies in a Global Age”)

· Some students keep their textbook in a cabinet to the side of the room (they know where they are)

· I have provided 10 paper copies of this reading for students who did not bring their book to class – please tell them you have copies if necessary

o Homework:

§ Read and take notes on Ch. 2, Section 4 from the textbook (“Modern Economies in a Global Age” – due Friday

*** Cell phones should not be out at all when working on the Economic Systems worksheet. I do allow students to listen to music while they are taking their notes. If it looks like they are texting, and not working on their assignment, feel free to tell the student to put their phones away.
