In class today, we began to examine the agents that can cause the collapse of a civilization or institution. Students worked with a partner to determine 10 agents/elements that would cause the collapse of the United States and Highland Park High School. After making their list, students then identified each agent with its corresponding PEGS (political, economic, geographic, social).

5th period - students wrote their top to reasons for collapse for both US and HPHS on the board. The class began discussing those agents and their impact.

7th period - at the beginning of the class, students finished watching the last 5 minutes of Cracking the Maya Code video. The Study Guide Questions that went along with the video were collected.

Homework

1. finish reading the Maya Collapse packet and filling out the corresponding worksheet (see yesterday's post for those handouts).
