6th Period:

- Today in class, 3 students shared their relocating to Mars Thesis statements from yesterday. Students worked with their assigned partner to edit each one of those 3 thesis statements to improve them. Please see below for the original thesis statements and their edits (in red).

- Then, the class discussed Evidence and Analysis writing (finishing the Thesis, Evidence, and Analysis PPT - see attachment for PPT and handout)

1. Humans should relocate to Mars because Earth’s environmental issue of global warming is only going to get worse as years go by. - specific

a. Humans should relocate to Mars because global warming will make the planet unsafe to live on.

2. Humans should relocate to Mars to help decrease the population of Earth because with too many people, there will be less jobs, more homeless, and many more issues with race and ethnicity.

a. Humans should relocate to Mars because there will be more jobs, less homeless people, and fewer issues with race and ethnicity on Mars.

b. Humans should relocate to Mars to help decrease the population of Earth.

3. Humans should not relocate to Mars. This is because we totally messed up Earth. If we moved to Mars, we will do the same thing, and at one point, run out of planets.

a. Humans should not relocate to Mars because people polluted and destroyed the natural resources on Earth, and we should not do that Mars.

7 th Period:

- the class discussed Evidence and Analysis writing (finishing the Thesis, Evidence, and Analysis PPT - see attachment for PPT and handout)

- Students completed an individual practice assignment

~ using Document 1 from the DBQ Packet, students had to answer the proposed question by developing a thesis, pulling a quote for evidence from the DBQ, and then writing an analysis. If you were absent, you will need to see me to make this up.

9th Period:

- In class, students were given 7 minutes to work with their partner from yesterday to edit the following thesis statements (see below for the original and edited statements).

- Next, we discussed evidence and analysis writing. We finished the PowerPoint on Thesis, Evidence and Analysis (see attachment for PPT and guided note handout.

1. The human race should relocate to Mars because of the dying absence of water, and resources on Earth, with an abundant possibility on Mars (specific).

a. The human race should relocate to Mars because of the decreasing amount of water and resources on Earth.

b. The human race should relocate to Mars because Mars has an abundant supply of resources such as nitrogen, oxygen, wood.

2. The human race should not move to Mars because of its dangerous climate, lack of resources, and lack of oxygen.you can’t breathe.

3. Earth is a big planet with lots of space for people to live with lots of water. Humans should not move to Mars because there is only land there and no water supply. Without water people can’t live, so moving to Mars would be equal to putting yourself into serious danger.

a. People should not relocate to Mars because there is no water supply.
