In class, we reviewed the physical geography of China by going over a map of the world and Asia. Students were able to check their map that they completed in class on Friday and finished as homework.

Homework:

1. Read and take notes on Shang China (reading from ABC Clio -- click on the hyper link to go to the website). Just a reminder, if you try to access ABC Clio at home, it will ask you for a user name and password. The user name is hphs and the password is giants.

**** Use the following questions to guide your hand-written notes on Shang China (students were given these questions on a half sheet of pink paper to help them with their notes).

Did you include…

- Include the time period of the Shang Dynasty?

- Location of the dynasty?

- Significance of Shang civilization?

- How did the Shang Dynasty rise?

- Organization of cities – what was the center?

- Define omnipotent – to understand the heading

- What was the importance of the King?

- What are oracle bones? How were they used? Why are oracle bones significant?

- What do Bronze artifacts tell us about the Shang?

- What civilization rises after the Shang?

- What survives out of the Shang Dynasty (as in, why is it significant)?
