Today in class, students filled out a note card (that was provided) with their first and last name. These note cards will be used to select students to be called on during every class period as a way to make sure that all student voices are heard. Next, students were provided with the Unit 1 Syllabus for History and Perspectives of Psychology (see attachment). On the syllabus, students can find what will be covered each day of this unit, homework assignments, a list of key terms, and the unit objectives.

We completed the remote association activity by connecting it to the self-reference effect (we remember information more readily if we relate it to ourselves). This key term is relevant to the process of journaling that we will do in class.

Finally, we went over how to complete a journal for Psychology (see attachment). Students had the rest of the period to work on their first homework assignment.

Homework:

1. read and journal pages. 3-8 in the textbook; answer unit objectives 1-2 (can be found on unit syllabus)
