7th Period:

- Today in class, we discussed...

a. a review of absolute thresholds and what purpose they serve

b. signal detection theory - why can we detect stimuli below our absolute threshold? discussed the chart of hits, miss, correct rejection, and false alarms (application to cell phone and receiving a text)

c. difference thresholds - what is the purpose?

d. weber's law - application to the book cart - when can you tell a difference in weight?

e. answer the questions: can subliminal messages control your behavior? why or why not? The class then discussed this answer.

f. watched the following video on Priming (relating to subliminal messaging -Derren Brown - Priming
