§ have students get into the following groups

§ Have students move their desks back into pods (groups of 3 or 4)
§ Take the colored copies on my desk in the social studies office and divide them (by color) into six stacks along the counter along the side wall of the classroom.
· Life of a Lord –purple paper
· Life of a Trader – green paper
· Life of a Priest – pink paper
· Life of a Knight – blue paper
· Life of a Serf – gold paper
· Life of a Miller – yellow paper
§ Each group is to read through ALL the roles (of a lord, trader, priest, knight, serf, and miller), and fill in their “Part 1: Manor System” worksheet
· 1 person from each group should go back to the counter where the colored copies are. That group member should choose 1 reading (ex. Life of a Lord), and grab enough copies of the reading for everyone in their group.
· The group should read the passage, and fill in the “Part 1: Manor System” worksheet TOGETHER
· When the group has finished filling in the Life of a Lord on their “Part 1: Manor System” worksheet, ONE member of the group should return the Life of a Lord readings to the back counter, and pick another reading (Life of a Trader).
· Groups should repeat this process until every group has read every “Life of…” Reading and completed their “Part 1: Manor System” worksheet
o ONCE AN ENTIRE GROUP HAS FINISHED THE “Part 1: Manor System” worksheet, HANDOUT MANOR PART 2 TO THAT GROUP
§ Please note that some groups will finish part 1 manor system before others; as each individual group finishes, please hand them the manor system part 2 materials
o Handout Manor System Part 2
§ Handout Manor System Part 2 Worksheet
· Students will need the “Manor System Part 2 – Answer Key”
· Students are to follow the direction listed on the Manor System Part 2 Assignment sheet
§ Students should be working with the members of their group on this assignment; everyone should be working on the same part of the assignment.
o HANDOUT the “9.1 Guided Notes: Growth of Royal Power in England and France”
§ Students are to use the paper copy of the reading to complete the 9.1 Guided notes
§ **** please be sure that everyone receives a paper copy of the 9.1 Guided Note Sheet and a copy of the reading
