Today in class, I introduced the Building the Brain Activity that students will be completing on Thursday in class. Students will be building a 3 Dimensional brain in groups; students should begin thinking of supplies that they can bring in to assist them in building their brains. Any material that students bring in should not smell or rot (as in, no cauliflower, cheese, etc. Candy is acceptable). It was strongly encouraged that students bring at least 1 can of Play-Doh to assist them in building their brain. More directions for this assignment will be discussed tomorrow.

Next, students completed page 4 in the Modules 9-11 Multiple Choice Packet. We went over the answers, and further discussed the functioning of sensory neurons, interneurons, and motor neurons. We also discussed how reflexes do not involve conscious thought, which means the interneurons involved do not make it to the brain before being routed back through the spinal cord to motor neurons.

We also discussed the Nervous System divisions (see attached PowerPoint).

Homework:

1. Module 14; obj. 14

2. Start preparing to build a brain - what materials will you need?
