The Lord needs you

Christ Jesus sent forth two of his disciples to Bethphage and Bethany, telling, “Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him and bring him And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? Say ye that the Lord hath need of him: and straightaway he will send him hither” (Mark 11:1-3)

Christ is looking for those who are as meek as a colt on which no man ever sat. He is not looking for those who are the wise men of this world, who are as brave as a lion, who are as cunning as a fox, who are as mighty as an elephant, who are as proud as a race horse. A colt, when tied to a post, is not of any use. A colt is such an animal, which is abhorred by any body. The dictionary meaning of “colt” is also “an inexperienced youth”. In India it is treated as an inauspicious animal, and is used by the poor people to carry their luggage, especially by washer men. The qualities of the colt are that it is so meek that it shies away from the crowd, and can carry any volume of weight on its back. Are you that colt Christ is looking for? You may be an inexperienced person in God’s ministry with no flair for giving any sermon or for singing any hymn. Nobody has ever made use of you in any church or evangelistic ministry. You might not have even prayed in a group. You are always shying away from the crowd. But you love Christ and His Church from the depth of your heart. You always carry a heavy burden of prayer on your heart for the other people of God. Today Christ has found you.

You are as a colt tied. May be, you are tied to the responsibilities of your family. May be, you are tied to the responsibilities of a teacher in a school. May be, you are tied to the responsibilities of an executive in an organization. The Lord has found you faithful in your secular job. The Lord has now need of you. All these years, the Word of God was trying you in the furnace of afflictions. He has now chosen you for His great work. This message now comes to you. If anybody who raises any doubt about your calling, I want to tell that person, “The Lord hath need of you”

When Samuel wanted one of the seven sons of Jesse to be anointed as the king in place of Saul, he thought that the Lord had chosen Eliab. But the Lord said unto Samuel, “Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart”. Similarly, the Lord rejected the other brothers of David. Finally, David, the youngest who was keeping the sheep, was paraded before Samuel. David “was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to”. But the Lord pointed His finger at David and told Samuel, “Arise, anoint him: for this is he”. Then Samuel anointed David in the midst of his brethren (ISam.16:6-13). Today, the Lord wants to anoint you for His ministry.

Prophetically speaking, Bethpage is a place where God finally chooses you for His ministry, after finding you faithful in the small things which He had entrusted you.

Are you that person that the Lord is looking for?
