Samuel Cecil Arthur Williams had one win under National Hunt rules, having started his career at Hurst Park on December 17, 1954, when Ginsky was one of 29 to contest the Wimbledon Long Distance Handicap Hurdle and finished unplaced.
The more experienced Rene Emery took over in the saddle next time out when a novice chase at Kempton Park on December 28 ended the same way. However, reunited with Sam the partnership came good on Ginsky’s third start of the season when they led for most of the way and drew clear to land the Round Oak Selling Handicap Chase at Windsor on January 8, 1955 by 12 lengths.
Owned and trained by Charles Beadell, Ginsky was then sold at the post-race auction, and Sam was unable to win another race.
He had his last ride at Taunton on November 8, 1956, when Flame Lass was unplaced in the Milverton Handicap Hurdle. After the race the stewards informed Sam and also William Wareham, the five-year-old’s trainer, “that they considered the horse had been run solely for the purpose of schooling and cautioned them”. Sam did not ride again and Wareham relinquished his licence the following month.
