Andrew Christopher Wilson rode for several seasons over jumps in the 1980s but had just one win.
A conditional jockey with leading northern trainer Gordon W. Richards, his first ride was on Speed Of Light, finishing fourth in the Grantshouse Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle at Kelso on January 12, 1983.
His sole success came at Carlisle on October 25, 1985, when Saucepot, trained by Richards, came through to lead on the flat and win the Orton Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Chase by two lengths. It was the only occasion on which Andrew rode the seven-year-old and he had few opportunities thereafter.
