William Wood

William Wood was born at Ripon in 1870 and was apprenticed to John 'Paddy' Drislane.

In 1891 he rode a horse at exercise which accidentally knocked down Paddy Drislane, who died as a result.

William rode the winners of the 1889 Cesarewitch (Primrose Day), 1890 Ayr Gold Cup (Dazzle) and the 1888 Liverpool Autumn Cup (Lady Rosebery).
