Peter Warner


Peter Gwynne Warner, born on 3 April, 1951, served a five-year apprenticeship with Jack Yeomans.

Peter lived at Barn Cottage, King Caple, Hereford, and rode his first winner on the Flat on Royal Occasion at Ayr on April 2, 1967. He rode a total of eight Flat winners including Ayr's W.D. & H.O Wills Silver Goblets on Chingu.

His first winner over the sticks came on Rocky Dart at Warwick on January 31, 1970,


He rode some useful horses including Bighorn, Again the Same, Sixer, Sparkling Tarqua, Run and Skip, Dulwich and Jo Columbo.


Peter won the Fred Dixon Memorial Chase, Ken Brown Memorial Chase and the Holman Cup Chase (twice) at Cheltenham.


He had retainers with Mrs Pam Sykes and John Spearing and was married to Nicola Ann. They had one daughter, Lucy Rachel.


He rode a total of 149 winners, his best being in 1981-82 when he rode 23.
