George Walsh

George Henry Walsh was born circa 1893 and rode on the Flat during the 1920s and 30s. He achieved most of his major successes in the 1920s.

He was based in Newmarket, Middleham and Epsom at various points during his career. He rode Our Prince (unplaced) in the 1921 Derby and came within a short-head of notching a four-timer at Gatwick on August 28, 1925, riding three winners and being narrowly beaten in the fourth,

During and immediately after the war he held a licence from 1942 until 1947.

Later in life he was in danger of going blind. Luckily, a form of electrical treatment saved him from blindness.
