Born on June 1, 1956, Peter Anthony Wilson rode over jumps during the mid-1970s and had one winner.
His first ride in public on Festival Song in the Felpham Selling Hurdle at Fontwell Park on New Year’s Eve 1973 ended in a fall at the final flight when well beaten.
It was not until the meeting at Fontwell on November 24, 1976 that he gained his sole success. After leading for most of the way on Old Smokey, the seven-year-old was passed on the run-in by Tacie, but Old Smokey fought back gamely to win the Ferring Opportunity Selling Handicap Hurdle by a short head. The winner was trained by Mick Bolton and had won and been placed on his two previous starts that season when ridden by John Francome, who resumed the partnership next time out.
Peter had his final ride when Ben Scarlet finished sixth of 14 runners in the Holiday Novices’ Hurdle at Plumpton on Easter Monday, April 11, 1977.
