ART & MUSIC

The environment we experience influences our creative process. When we experience variations in lighting, colors on the walls, different smells, and different types of sounds, they evoke different feelings within us and in turn these sensory experiences invade our creative process. The sensory effects of music affect our painting process; In most cases you would distinctly see how music plays out in the artist’s masterpiece. (Pederson, 2020)

WHAT TO DO?

  1. Answer the question briefly: How does art and/or music affect you as a person?

  2. Submit your answer to GOOGLE CLASSROOM.

Evaluating Music

Classical music is a tricky genre, mainly because to the uninformed everything before jazz sounds like it! True indeed that Classical music and Baroque music both use orchestras to produce their distinctive sounds, but the way in which each does it is truly different. For example, Baroque music is very heavy, whereas Classical music is light, almost airy. Hence, Classical music greatly emphasized homophonic melodies, meaning that there was a single melody that all the instruments played, instead of the layered melodies of the Baroque period. This allowed for Classical pieces to be much more powerful, whereas Baroque pieces were just pretty in comparison. (https://bit.ly/3dip1Qv)

THOUGHTS TO PONDER

Our liking to music varies because it is also connected to our personality, somehow. True indeed that music and art may have some therapeutic effect on a person. However, what is therapy to one does not have to be true to another. Which is why we try to learn to evaluate music as in the same manner, we also evaluate people and the way they connect to the society and even to himself.
