Writers use figures of speech to add depth to a statement engaging the readers to be thinkers thus pushing them towards the discovery of meaning. Do you remember them? Simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia, allusion, personification, litotes, paradox, oxymoron, synecdoche, metonymy, apostrophe, hyperbole, irony.
