Q1 Week 1

August 14

Tell me what you know about the painting.

THE CLASSICS

In the early 1980s, a line was put forward saying that the social role of art should be simply characterized this way: “art is entertainment.” This led to discussion and debate, and through this process the “art is entertainment” line was criticized and rejected. Since that time, there has been ongoing discussion among people about the social role of art.

Indeed, art is more than just entertainment. In its subtle means art has become a mirror of the past; an instrument of curiosity as to how our ancestors or simply those who came before us represent their era and their way of living.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER

Art indeed is more than entertainment; it goes from self-expression to reflections of a society. Believe me when I say that artists are geniuses. Their minds project so much color, artistry, and wisdom which are put to life through their skillful hands. Because of art, the world we live in is given a glimpse of what has been; to appreciate the beauty of the past is to move forward creating more of beauty's forms. Do not hesitate to express yourself especially when it means well.
