OSTINATO

In music, an ostinato is a short pattern of notes which is repeated many times. The word "ostinato" is related to the word obstinate. It is like a musical idea which is being stubborn and will not go away. The plural can be either "ostinati" or "ostinatos".

An ostinato can last for a section of a piece or it might last for the whole piece of music. It can be a repeated group of notes or just a rhythm. It is similar to a riff in jazz. Many kinds of music use ostinati, e.g. classical music, jazz, boogie-woogie and African music. (https://kids.kiddle.co/Ostinato)

W H A T T O D O

1. Make your own production of an ostinato using only the materials you see at home like spoon, fork, your door, kitchen utensils and the like. If there are musically inclined individuals at home, you could ask them to perform with you.

2. Pattern your ostinato production from the samples you’ve heard of or if you think you can very well make your own version, that is not a problem at all. That would be remarkable.

3. Your video must NOT EXCEED ONE MINUTE.

4. Post your video in your social media account or your blog.

IMPORTANT: If you are a very private individual who does not feel comfortable posting such videos of yourself, you may opt to save the video in your google drive. Turn on shareable link. Please do understand that your output would NOT qualify for bonus points.

5. Submit link to Google Classroom.

Be guided by the TRANSMUTATION table below to know the possible scores you'll get depending on the rating indicated in the rubric above. This task is worth 50 points.

CONGRATULATIONS!

YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED THE TASKS FOR THE WEEK.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER

Our liking to music varies because it is also connected to our personality, somehow. True indeed that music and art may have some therapeutic effect on a person. However, what is therapy to one does not have to be true to another. Which is why we try to learn to evaluate music as in the same manner, we also evaluate people and the way they connect to the society and even to himself. Music also has the power to tickle our creative side; if we only let it.
