CHANGING

DIRECT

TO

INDIRECT

SPEECH

People have varied ways of relaying information for varied circumstances. In the process, the message might be changed; hence, keeping the original message though relayed or stated in a different manner may become a challenge. Furthermore, it is important to learn how to change direct speech to indirect or reported speech.

TASK 1

TRY THIS @ my blog...

1. Visit my blog to go over the rules once more.

2. Answer the "TRY THIS" section after each rule.

3. Submit your answer to GOOGLE CLASSROOM.

TASK 2

TALES from the COUNTRY FOLKS

A folktale is a traditional narrative, usually of anonymous origin, handed down orally from one generation to the next.

1. Read the article I wrote about the folktale from my hometown.

2. Read the comments as well as they give feedback on current circumstances and what the readers are thinking.

3. Answer the question: “What do you think might happen to the “PUTAT” in the near future?” Give evidence to your opinion through the comments, hence the use of direct and indirect speech.

4. Turn in your answer to Google Classroom.

NOTE: Limit your answers to one paragraph if possible. This task doesn't require long answers.

Here's how you are graded...

TASK 3

TALES about your LOCALITY...

THE PARAGRAPH

A paragraph is a series of sentences that are organized and coherent, and are all related to a single topic. Almost every piece of writing you do that is longer than a few sentences should be organized into paragraphs. It may contain many different kinds of information: a series of brief examples or a single long illustration of a general point. It might describe a place, character, or process; narrate a series of events; compare or contrast two or more things; classify items into categories; or describe causes and effects.

1. Write a paragraph about a folktale or any tales you’ve heard of in your locality.

2. I have made a sample paragraph for your guidance.

NOTE: Based on the sample given, the paragraph you are writing is narrative.

4. Send your output to Google Classroom.

Here's how you are graded...

Task 2 and 3 are worth 25 points each. Below is the TRANSMUTATION showing the possible scores you'll get for every scoring category.

CONGRATULATIONS!

YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED THE TASKS FOR THE WEEK.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER

The stories we grow up with in our locality would only mean so much when we grown out of childhood; most especially when you come to live or work afar from your hometown. These stories come with memories of your childhood, memories that you'd want to keep; worth-keeping or not. Now, that you probably all live in the city and stories of your hometown maybe something you haven't heard of; start asking your parents about them. These stories may still be passed on to the generations to come.
