1 loaf French bread
2 bulbs garlic
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
Kosher salt, to taste
1 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
16 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
1/2 cup pepperoni slices
1/2 cup sliced bell peppers
Grated Parmesan cheese
Crushed red pepper flakes
Fresh basil leaves
Roast the Garlic: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the tops off the garlic bulbs, drizzle with olive oil, wrap them in foil, and roast for 45–60 minutes until golden and caramelized. Let them cool, then squeeze the cloves out of the skins.
Make Garlic Butter: Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C). Mash the roasted garlic and mix it into the softened butter. Season with kosher salt.
Prepare the Bread: Slice the French bread lengthwise into 8 even pieces. Arrange them on a baking sheet and spread the garlic butter generously over each slice.
Bake the Bread: Bake for 8–10 minutes until the bread is crisp and golden.
Add Toppings: Remove from the oven. Spread pizza sauce over each slice, then top with sliced mozzarella, pepperoni, bell peppers, or any desired toppings.
Bake Again: Return to the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and melted.
Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with grated Parmesan, crushed red pepper flakes, and fresh basil. Serve warm and enjoy!
