I made this pot because I had gotten inspiration from the underglaze transfer project and wanted to make a fruit bowl that had a little section designated for pits that could be removed and easily emptied. I had some extra time so I decided to execute my idea.
I started with planning and sketching the size slabs I needed in order for this to be an executable idea. I started originally with and idea to have the pit section be another compartment but that proved to take up too much space so I decided to just make it hook onto the sides. I was going to put holes in the bowl so that you could rinse it out, but I fogot about that and it got fired before I could execute that idea. I cut out my slabs and attached them, the clay for some slabs was really hard so I was difficult to work with, but I used the slab roller so it wasn't too bad. However I ran out of clay that was workable at all and had to use some recycled clay that was super soft which was really annoying because it would just change shape and collapse so easily, but I figured it out and after I leaft it out to dry for a litt;e while it was a lot easier to work with.Â
