An Interesting Career

Pen, marker, and graphite on drawing paper

9"x 12"

The main idea of the whatchamaDRAWit assignments, it to take a odd and sort of random combination of topics to mix together into a drawing prompt. My prompt was to draw a person that was part clown, part football player, and part doctor. I decided to draw the head as the clown because the face of a clown is the most definitive of the three of those.

I started with the basic shape using a graphite pencil to sketch out everything. I then moved on the making darker graphite lines and starting to go over those lines with a fine-point pen. I then added details using the pne, then went back in and added colors with markers, pushing harder where I wanted it to be darker.

I started by just sitting for a bit and brainstorming what I wanted to do, what parts did I want to be the doctor? Football player? Clown? Once I had decided, I looked up pictures of football players so that I could copy the general shapes of their body, padding, and jersey . I then used that foundation to put the doctors coat on top. Then for the clown face I purly went off of what I think of clowns being like, I tried not to use any examples since I already had some ideas.
