They're All Looking at Me!

The idea behind this work was to show how it feels like society is always watching you and looking at you. Often people who wear makeup all the time talk about how people always seem to say they look tired or ask if they're okay if they don't wear makeup. This situation speaks to how I feel like I always have to look my best in public because celeberties and all the people around me are doing the same. It feel like if I don't people are going to be looking at or watching me.
I used cutouts from Rolling Stone magazine which is pictures of mostly famous people which worked really well with the idea that guided this project. Famous people are often the ones I, and many other look up to for influence and it seems they're always looking good. This is why I had them all looking towards the center where I left some open mirror so that my own reflection would show through.
I began by trying tp decide what I would put in the center. At first I wanted to connect it to #14 and have me doing that same ballet pose in the section of open mirror, however that seemed like it would be realy hard to photograpgh. I then wanted to connect to #3 by posing my hands and face in that was but my face blended into the rest of them too much. So after collaging I experimented with different angles from which the photograph could be taken to get the idea through. Finally I landed on the idea that I would be in the photo and the final product would be a photograph rather than just the mirror itself.
